lol ok this is like 2 days over due but i've been lazy and exhausted so after sleeping for like the entire day, i believe i shall attempt to do this.
so friday i had many things going on. driving in the morning, then lunch @ novena square's Harry's Bar with Tino.
so cheap! it was only like $13 for a set lunch. at Harry's. admittedly the food wasn't that great but it wasn't too shabby. and then i went for my MA @ NSC where i discovered to my horror that my warts have reproduced to make now a total of 4. liquid nitrogen sounds quite cool (no pun intended) but the pain is no joke. *sobs*
and while waiting for keith to go shop in town, i went to chill at tino's cafe. which is at orchard delfi. and considering how far i had to walk with injured feet, it more or less was at malaysia.
i heart strawberry cheesecake *whee*
the cool thing bout this cafe is that it's attached to a Francis Cheong boutique! omg the dresses were so pretty! esp the one on top. it has white wings attached actually but they used it to decorate the xmas tree lol. so it's more gorgeous than it alr looks with an equally beautiful price tag. 10K! that kind of money can pay for like 2 semesters of my education! grr
then it was time for shopping. it was my idea to chiong post xmas sale but after seeing nearly the whole world in town, i got turned off. i'm so idiosyncratic haha. i hate crowds. so i did not buy anything until we fled to bugis. and we actually got seats in the train. on a friday night in town. how unreal is that. tells you how bad the human traffic topside really was. and even bugis was empty for a friday night. you know the traffic light crossing between Bugis junction and village? no one was queuing. can you believe it?!
and that was the end of friday. and sat evening was packed with quite a bit of things too.
first i had dinner with the family @ PS Manhattan.
and i saw this humongous thing. and was rendered speechless. okay actually i wasn't. i was waxing lyrical about his endowed girth. but i shall not repeat the many things i said 'coz they're all not very nice. karma~
and i felt so bad! 'coz my pri sch class gathering was also at PS! but i alr had dinner plans so i said i'll meet them at timbre old skool after dinner but i was possessed ytd into going to play so i went to get chop first (such aunty behaviour. influence of keith richards no doubt) and realised they were going to Dble O.
and since freddy was sorta headed there too, so i figured it was a great convenience. and after rushing to get play's entry, we rushed to dble o for their free entry. e cb cabby dropped us at e wrong place and we had to cab again. and in e end we were denied entry 'coz we were in berms. *fumes* i'm too used to play's dress down dress code to rmb bout other clubs bah.
but we promised we'd meet up again! b4 pple fly off to god knows where. time flies
and so. a stop @ DYMK b4 playing. and sprucing up in the toilet. lol. actually that just means eye-liner. i've recently discovered this craze for eye-liner. i so feel daniel radcliffe when he said he wants to play a drag queen for the excuse to put on lots of eye make up
gah i hate my 凤眼! i have to go to korea ASAP
and finally, play:
my new fave song *beams*
i know i said it's eons since i clubbed. the last one was halloween and even that really wasn't clubbing per se. and ytd i was reminded why. it's physically and more importantly, emotionally draining. i'll remember it for some time to come.
so now i need to find somewhere to count down. i'm stumped. *pout* suggestions??

Merry Christ/Xmas!
Thursday, December 25, 2008 at 9:11 PM
okay so christmas is nearly over. but i've been very tired and only have the energy to type stuff like now.
firstly, before i start narrating about my life, i must say that i'm very puzzled about the whole hoo-ha of "christmas starts with christ" and how "Xmas" seems to irk some people. i believe the entire idea stems from the fact that christmas is ostensibly a christian holiday and any attempt to take out the "christ" is just secularism.
that would be a valid point IF we accept that christmas really is a "christian holiday". contrary to popular belief, it actually isn't. it's "originally a pagan celebration called Saturnalia which commemorated the birth of the sun god" (source), which has now metamorphed into an excuse for revelry in our modern times.
and having said that, i don't exactly see the problem with secularism. what's wrong with taking a holiday and evolving it to match your own beliefs? take hari raya. only muslims do what they have to do at the mosque (i confess i'm quite ignorant of the details). the rest of us take the opportunity to visit them, eat their kueh and indulge in our melting pot culture. i don't hear of them kicking up a fuss.
or take halloween too. i rather doubt kids trick-or-treat here, which is more or less what halloween is all about. but we adultish pple still seize that chance to dress up. it's a very american tradition but we've evolved it for ourselves.
also, the notion that jesus was actually born on 25th december is simply erroneous. again the above mentioned source will tell you in great detail that it's actually in Sept 5BC.
moreover, the idea of replacing the "christ" with an "X" is simply because of written convenience. surely everyone knows that saving a few characters could mean the difference of 1 or 2 sms sent out which will affect the bill. i for one have not heard someone wish me "merry xmas" verbally.
those of faith will no doubt rush to defend the idea and not the technicalities behind this festival. the whole "commemorating the birth of christ" motif. but it's not the birth of christ that is important, is it? it's ironically and morbidly the death that matters. so i think easter deserves more attention.
to conclude, i think it'll only become a matter of contention if christians use Xmas instead of the Christmas. after all, they are the ones with the problem. if the rest of us wish to use Xmas for whatever reasons we may have, i frankly don't see what right they have to object. it's a public holiday and no one has monopoly of how it ought/ought not to be celebrated.
right. preamble done. lol. now for the boring part.
Xmas eve was slow! everyone alr had plans so i only threw together mine at the last minute.
Carl's Junior for dinner!
with my new friend tino. haha
the onion rings are huge! *loves*
and then we went to watch BOLT! in 3D! i didn't even know it was 3D until the woman told me i had to show up 20mins early to collect my glasses. and i absolutely loved the hamster. such an obese little thing but it's so CUTE! nice warm fuzzy way to spend xmas eve.
although the glasses were a tad obiang =.="
and then i went down to the airport
to meet the ORD personnel. and me being next in line *beams*
but discovered to my horror that phelps stole my bag! grr...
and then we took the car to clark quay 'coz i wanted to play the reverse bungee. but it was closed! and i also realised my maths is quite rusty =(
so we went for supper instead!
and so after a very insufficent sleep, it was Dom's place for an xmas lunch
which was peranakanish cuisine! like ayam buah keluak and kueh pie ti! (i have a video of me trying to make some pie ti-es but i decided it's very embarrassing so i won't upload it) yays i got in touch with my roots again haha
his dog is so cute! and skinny. unlike mine =.=
and as you can tell, he is an alcoholic.
cheers!
and i'm very perplexed. something is wrong with me lately. nowadays i don't feel like clubbing and drinking. i intended to go Fabs 2nite to experiment and see if i still have it in me but well, entry and kaki problems. i shall go analyse this problem in the near future and find the source of this aberration, if that's what it is.
okay to end off, i shall leave you with 2 of my most fave christmas songs. *melts*
Merry Christmas and a happy new year! =D

channel 8 sucks...
Monday, December 22, 2008 at 10:16 PM
i've never liked local productions, which is probably why i don't watch much tv. i've always felt weird watching it and until recently, could never quite put my finger on it 'coz i guess i just never spared it much thought.
but now that i have, i know the problem. it's bad drama. in fact, i don't think it's drama. it feels more like a skit. i can't really explain it. but i'm sure you know what i'm talking about. the acting is either weird or stiff or just inappropriate. like pple don't react that way in real life. it's over-exaggerated. there's no nuance at all.
characters are one-dimensional. they're either always good or always bad. and the casting is so typical. the bitch is always the bitch. the psycho is always the psycho. the goody is always the goody.
and there's also the filming. like how close ups and panning get mixed up etc. i mean, it's not as if i'm steven spielberg or like tom hanks but as an audience, if i get the feeling of it being unnatural, then it's not good drama! you don't get that feeling while watching like House or CSI or something.
pple can always say they don't have hollywood's kinda budget. that's true. but Catherine Hardwicke (director of Twilight *swoons*) said in her interview that you gotta make do with ur budget and make it work! (okay it's largely paraphrased but the gist is there) and she did make it work! not perfectly of course (prolly why she got axed for the sequel) but she made her point. IT IS NOT AN EXCUSE!
after that lengthy preamble (yes i'm only getting to my point now haha), i thought...
小娘惹 (the Little Nyonya),
the current channel 8 "blockbuster" was beginning to see some promise. after all they more or less pulled out all the stops for this one. but after tonight's episode, i weep for humanity.
i refer to the scene where
yueniang (ooh she's pretty)
saves dasha and his bird's nests from the conniving bumish sinseh and is witnessed by the "PI" old mrs chen sent to dig up the dirt yueniang (oh we all love far-fetched coincidences in movies).
Firstly, his "spying" consists of listening outside an open window. and it's not even a tinted window. it was basically a square hold with some bamboo in between. not at all conspicuous, no. to make matters worse, after yueniang and dasha fled the house, they passed by the said window. with the PI still standing there. and all he did was to pull his retarded hat lower down his face. and somehow, the duo failed to notice him. perhaps the director was inspired by rowling's invisibility cloak or an disillusionment charm or just plain lazy to get a better script.
secondly, he duly reported all he heard from the thugs bout yueniang being liu yi dao's wife and all to the old fogey. somehow, he managed to not hear yueniang's retort that she's not their "lady boss" or the equivalent. i forgot the exact words. apparently the director seems to think the audience is even more retarded than this said professional PI.
am i the only one who feels insulted??
*fumes*
the theme song is nice though
go olivia ong!
okay this really is a very random post. but i have a lot of time on my hands now, since i'll be out of camp all the way till next yr. *whee* thus i wanna get a few things done now that i have much home time.
first i wanna fix my goddamn bittorrent speeds. second, i wanna upgrade my blog template to the new one. but not with the blogger templates 'coz i want a customised one!
the problem is that i know enough about computers to turn them on and complain in a loud voice if the internet is not working. therefore i required help.
any volunteers?? i promise you'll be handsomely rewarded. *beams hopefully*

sighhhh

i can't believe i stayed up till 4 ytd night reading Eclipse! incidentally that's the 3rd out of 4 books in the twilight series. this annoys me 'coz my books never seem to last me long enough. now i have nothing to do 2mr!
i'm such a hopeless romantic i'm a sucker of such stuff. haiz i want a fantasy romance of my own!!!
standing ovation
Monday, December 15, 2008 at 12:48 AM
so i didn't make it to fabs. but i went for supper.
with freddy. haha it's so convenient to have pple living near you. so he took the bike (which is in the background)
and i took the blades. which turned out to be a bad idea 'coz of the bloody slopes and the retarded raised bumps for blind pple that the town council put at every junction. but blading in the drizzle at night is quite a pleasant feeling.
except that it makes you bloody warm. and shag. and aches your back. and what remains of that blasted wart hurts like a dog now
heh typical supper food. prata with teh tarik.
couldn't finish though 'coz i was still full from dinner with aunt. and i feel like puking now. but it was a fun exp! i rmb the last time i biked to Jalan Kayu with ben liang for prata which seriously killed me. 2nite was a mere warm up but it feels like i've fulfilled my HLS quota for the week.
P.S. check out my new civilian Ray Ban specs! i now look intellectual and boyish instead of pervy haha

twilight roxxors
Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 12:26 AM
i just watched twilight with freds and i must say i'm an instant fan! omg!!! the vampires are so fucking cool. twilight >> harry potter
heh we are glamly unglam. it's woodlands anyway
trailer!
i also want! dammit!
another reason why i love it is 'coz of the romance! it's so SWEET!!! now i feel all lonely and unloved. *pout* =(
ok i shall now declare that this is the time of the vampires. pale skin + eye liner is IN. tanning oil + sun is OUT.
and i volunteer to be a vampire. any one of those out there wanna bite me???

a LONG day
Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 3:05 PM
ytd was a terribly long day. and i was so shagged out that i didn't have the energy to blog till like now. even though i think i ought to take a nap.
firstly, i had 2 MAs. which isn't all that bad 'coz i had something like a free day off from camp. the first was at Woodlands Polyclinic Dental, where i had my wisdom teeth checked and scolded for not taking proper care of my teeth yada yada. and i was most astonished when they billed me like 50bucks. apparently 11B doesn't cover dental. so i'm seriously hoping i don't have to pay for extracting my wisdom teeth. 2 million dollors for 10days MC is not very worth it.
the second was at National Skin Centre, where i discovered that what i thought was a blister on my sole turned out to be a plantar wart o.o and the treatment is an application of liquid nitrogen, which is like at -200 degrees. ironically, very cold things burn skin just as well as very hot things. on the bright side, i gotta go back every fortnight for repeated treatments and this more or less guarantees me another 4 or 5 more fri PM MAs. how convenient.
after that seriously painful exp, i had to kill much time b4 meeting freds to check out the designer bazaar @ wisma and accidentally bumping into isaac and darrell in the process. the bazaar SUCKS. a complete waste of time. most of the clothes were for women and even the few that were for guys were like rubbish. and the floor feels as if someone mopped it with jam. our shoes kept squeaking off god-knows-what-shit so i refused to walk much.
we went to kino to look for a organiser and i'm very happy with the one i found!
it's so posh! even though it's full of random japanese nonsense like:
i love having my life fully in control and the organiser is like my remote control. *glee*
then i left to meet JP to talk about my life over dinner. he brought me to this italian restaurant at like the singapore art museum. it's always these little eating places tucked in obscure corners that are undiscovered gems.
the food was excellent. so was the conversation. i have come to a decision! i shall not change my course. *whee* no more stress. now to take a nap and then shopping!
standing ovation
i am stressed!
Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 8:34 PM
okay i've been unexpectedly stunned by NUS a few days ago. when i came back from HK, i found, somewhat to my dismay, 2 letters from NUS and none from Prudential. in them, i was instructed to confirm my choice of course and to opt for whether to matriculate in the special term or not.
so after doing some research and thinking whether law + mpp is what i wanna do, i've concluded that i'm not at all sure. law + life science was my 2nd choice and after looking at the modules again, i'm starting to think that i will enjoy my life more if i change my course. i have until next monday to decide but i'm nowhere near making such an agonizing decision.
so i have to break it down for myself.
this is what changing to law + life science will entail:
PROS:
modules are more interesting, including forensics! whoo CSI baby!
total time spent down from 5 to 4 years
CONS:
i have to submit a FRESH APPLICATION, which means interviews & essays all over again
should i be successful, i will not be unable to matriculate in the special term. which may be problematic because a double degree is not at all a walk in the park and i do not wish to see my social suffer TOO greatly
i will only obtain a B(A) in Law & A B(Sc) in Life Sci as opposed to a B(A) in Law & a Masters in Public Policy (and some fool actually thought i couldn't even make it to NUS =.=)
(probably) harder to find a scholarship
there's just so much to consider. i really have to talk to some lawyer friends to get an idea of my future life. this is seriously causing me a considerable amount of stress such that it keeps me awake at nights!
damn paper-chasing, rat-racing modern society of ours!
standing ovation
i was mistaken
Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 8:41 PM
i said that i was looking forward to a relaxing week in camp. i so take that back. i'm now sitting at the inet terminal, full but disgusted from MacDonald's food and wishing i was going to see Steve Aoki @ Zouk.
it's so hard staying here especially after a holiday (i wish i were still in HK dammit) and watching ur friends ORD one by one. i know my turn's coming soon but it's the last stretch that is the hardest.
and it's christmas! i wanna be out shopping and soaking in the festive cheer. i absolutely love christmas. it makes you feel so good!!!

Colours
Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 1:01 AM
after all the hype (including the chio snail mail invite that somehow i did not receive), dylon's 19th finally arrived. actually it was ytd but i was too tired to blog and now that i'm in camp and have nth better to do, blog i shall.
it was kinda slow at first 'coz i hardly knew anyone and halfway through calvin realised his cam had no batt inside so daniel offered to drive him back to procure it and edric and i seized the opportunity to go for a spin in the mini cooper!
i love that car! it's so cute and like the sky roof is just too cool. beyond words kinda cool. i so want one of those. after i pass my blasted TP that is =.=
the dresscode of that night was well, colours and the deco was very well in theme.
so was the cake. or cakes. which were made by calvin using mag's recipe haha. so chio and psychedelic!
happy bday dylon! i'm a trifle annoyed 'coz i forgot to use the flashless mode which would have made it so much more romantic!
the guests:
khee ngiap! who was like the last person i expected to see but he seems to be everywhere these days.
edric
calvin
daniel
and the bday boy!
ok i'm now exhausted from walking up the bloody hill to camp. and coupled with my sleep debt from K-boxing/supppering/hollanding till 6am the night after i came back from HK + the party, i am so going upstairs to the bunk to crash.
looking forward to a quiet R&R in camp! never thought i'd say this but oh well.
standing ovation
Hong Kong
Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 5:23 PM
i am finally back from hong kong and am exhausted because of the sheer amount of photos i have to upload! hotel didn't have free net access (grr) so i couldn't upload stuff progressively. and i haven't even edited videos yet bleahhhh. but i shall persevere.
thus is our adventure:
i saw this christmas tree on our way to our boarding gate and i just had to take a pic. it's such a tranny tree but beautiful in a way lol
this is Chong Phit Lian, CEO of Jetstar and apparently, she's of the impression that jetstar is an excellent way to fly (it's just cheap) and has created a fan club.
the flight was SO boring. no inflight entertainment and even refreshments cost money. i guess it's budget through and through (even the staff is quite budget quality) but i guess we can't complain and can only make ourselves as comfortable as we can:
after 3.5 hours, we finally arrived in HK! below are views of our hotel's surroundings. HK really does look like what it does in HK dramas and movies lol
HK winter is not to be underestimated. we were dying outside our hotel
our first meal! at some random noodle shop. apparently HK has a lot of those hmm.
as bizarre as it may seem, the water is meant for washing your chopsticks. and not for drinking. which isn't all that weird after you realise that they use tea to wipe their tables clean :S
full and therefore happy =D
our room!
being the cheapos that we are, we squeezed 6 pple in a triple sharing room and we had to elude deduction by hiding 4 of us in the toilet when housekeeping came to *ahem* show divya where the powerpoints were. all that cunning but unable to locate everyday essentials. *tsk*
sprucing up before heading out for a walk~
lulu finally found her daniel wu haha. much to the chagrin of the magazine stand owner
the Hong Kees really love their mango. but now, so do we! i was so sad when i heard gabe say they opened a branch in SG but it closed 'coz of poor business. how can anyone resist?! nevermind if it's a TAD ex!
and the gals love their hygiene. post SARs scars
we paid lab a visit but didn't see much else of their AJ scene. DAMN.
the streets of HK are littered with monsters and retarded looking fishes. i thought the flat ones were like armadilloes but they turned out to be kabutos.
i was clearly there to differentiate between women and men.
Ladies Market @ Mongkok! it's like our chinatown selling most random stuff like lulu's wig:
i'm eating this cold noodle snack thingy that they have and it's so quaint! they have like packets of different noodles and ingredients all in a fridge and you choose 3 for like HKD5 (SGD 1) and they mix it for you on the spot! so cute!
despite their babbling, they do create nice food. like this weirdish sounding fried fish skin, which unexpectedly tastes fabulous
in the lift on our way to the Peak and lulu had a trinity moment (at my prompting haha):
dinner at a quaint cafe! although the prices were anything but =.=
lulu and i playing with bruce! or is it sally at that time? or cassandra herself?
divya couldn't resist joining in. such skanky girls.
only lulu would buy something like that. tofu flavoured gelato :S
haha divya giving her cash when she resorts to begging after spending $2million on the gelato
the view at the peak is GORGEOUS!!!
but it is also cold like fuck hence our eskimo garb
sally perished then and the others were afraid their ears would follow in her footsteps
haha seriously such an abominable snow-woman
*fun*
ok this is the thing about HK. it's supposedly an aging population but i think it's already an aged population. there were hardly any youngish folk up and about. so we ended up playing a game.
it was something like whoever could spot a balding chap and take a photo, would get 50pts. whoever first reached 100pts would win a mango dessert from the rest. lulu being the absolutely shameless woman that she is, won.
chings. LOL
amusing ourselves on the streets while waiting for gabe to change money
the moment we were all waiting for finally arrived. SHENZHEN!!!
the train ride was damn long and boring though so we had to amuse ourselves thus:
yet another proof of the aged population: using a magnifying glass to read =.="
lulu and i amusing ourselves with PLUTO
and she disapproves of certain models
but this we unanimously approve =D
and a very clever ad for anti-promiscuity. it translates to "gourmet food before your eyes? think again" (or something like that. it's chinese). go figure what the cauliflower means lol
nice quaint country side!
this is a sign at the HK-Shenzhen customs border. i wonder what sign they put on panties
i can't believe this girl was chomping on bananas while we were waiting for goods to arrive. Shenzhen is an amazing place. it's like a conglomerate. they show you a catalogue, you point at a few goods that catch your fancy, and off the runners go to their hideouts to procure the stuff for you.
and "hideout" is NOT an exaggeration. they have things like a removable floor board where they hide their keys. and what you think is a wall is actually a panel that when removed, reveals a ladder up to god knows where.
and thanks to gabe's connections, we had the dubious honour of viewing one such hideout. it's such a sophisticated system. they have passwords and a sentry system for going in and out. it was all over my head omg.
lulu and ping! it's the most hilarious thing that lulu did throughout this trip and she did pull a lot of ridiculous stunts.
somehow she befriended this woman in a toilet of all places. and when we went for dinner, ping popped out of nowhere and offered her touting services, where she brought us around and around to all her cronies' shops and wouldn't leave us alone.
until we fled from her. and i really mean flee. like running away and her giving chase. so we ended up splitting up and lost her. i guess the photo sorta encouraged her and that's my fault haha. but it was funny.
we took a breather at a shop that gabe and zul had past dealings with. and lo and behold, guess what cassandra did. she usurped the computer, edited the playlist with her blasted jay chou song and started using facebook and meebo.
and so it was the next day and along the way to breakfast, we spied this shop that had nothing but these vending machines thingy. and apparently it was self run. so quaint.
more dimsum!
i rest my case about the skankiness
=.="
possibly the most disgusting sight we ever saw in our lives. imagine our horror when we went to this store looking for lao po bing and instead saw this macabre massacre. *gross*
amusing ourselves while waiting for a plan to present itself
DKNY's relocation sale! but 80% of 2 million dollars is still well, 2 million dollars so we borrowed their props for a picture or two. lol.
haha i was checking out the goods back at the room when suddenly the gals wanted to take photos. so i gallantly obliged
swanky dimsum restaurant in Shenzhen and apparently the "double boiled frog's ovaries in coconut" that russell ordered to try is considered a delicacy and is excellent for complexion.
heh. first class concession. we are such cheats.
divya practising the sultry secretary look. i, on the other hand, have already perfected the art.
Che's! (which literally means "car", althought the name of gabe's mum's partner who opened the restaurant)
it's arguably the nicest food we've had in HK so far. and exepectedly, we paid through our noses for it. but at least we got dessert free, thanks to gabe being the son of well, the owner. we think.
fried char siew bao. the outside pastry is so sweet and plus the meat inside omg...
the beef was excellent. even though it's like 20SGD for a plate. but completely worth it.
tofu with crab. clearly meant for the gals
smoked pomfret. i thought it was great although gabe said it reminded him of the toilet in china =.=
(free) dessert! the custard bao was unlike anything i ever had. it was gourmet orgasm!
and so after that grand finale dinner, it was time to go home.
if not for the bloody long ride, i would love planes completely. now i just love 'em 90%
but to my horror, my new suede paul smith bag came out of the luggage collection half wet! fucking handlers must have dropped it in the rain. i complained to the customs office and they said to make a claim with my insurer.
damned jetstar! fan club my ass!
even though it ended on a bad note, i still loved this trip. and i love my friends! but i hate being broke. grr.
right the girls have finally uploaded their pics and i have edited and uploaded the videos. here are some note-worthy ones.
we have no idea what talent lulu possesses to be able to do things like that
the culmination of zul and lulu's project throughout the trip
me with divya's ferragamo
bloody stalkers...
i dunno why zul looks so exasperated. moisturizing is a necessity. and it just so happens there was a handy mirror at the specs shop
i love this trench coat! but it was like SGD100+ and i really have no occasion to wear it in SG. and the annoying shop keeper said we couldn't take pics so we had to snap one surreptitiously when he went in
haha we really dunno why all of zul and lulu's pics are all hideous
and speaking of hideous, only lulu is capable of taking a candid shot and making usually impeccably glam pple look anything but. at least i think i still look more or less human. divya looks like princess fiona shrek-mode hahaha
and to conclude, zul's classic face totally says it all
